Your voice matters. Your actions matter.

The Covid-19 pandemic has proven that our individual actions can make a difference in our community, city and state. If staying at home and social distancing can slow down the spread of a disease, just imagine the powerful role that each of us has in our homes leading up to the 2020 Election.

There are three simple things you can do. Register to vote. Pledge to vote in the November General Election. Convince two of your friends, family members or neighbors to vote.

You can make a difference.
As we see again and again, older Americans turn out to vote at much higher rates than younger adults. In the 2016 Presidential Election, just over a quarter of voters (27%) were ages 65 and older.

In this election, we need to register and engage every eligible voter. You can make sure that everyone you know is registered to vote. If you are a teacher or work in a school, talk to your students and their parents about the importance of registering to vote. The non-profit site, When We All Vote, offers plans for schools. There are also many other ways to get involved; check out this link from our friends at Chicago Votes and here

You can register to vote.
Register online by clicking on this link for City of Chicago residents or here for Cook County suburban residents. You can also register by mail if you live in Cook County and have a printer. Follow this link to download a form. Consider printing up several copies for your friends and neighbors that might not be able to go online. If you are completing the printed form, you will want to send to one of the following:

For City of Chicago Residents:
Chicago Board of Elections
69 W. Washington St. #600
Chicago, IL 60602

If you are a Cook County suburban/non-city of Chicago resident:
Cook County Clerk’s Office
69 W. Washington, Suite 500
Chicago, IL 60602

You are part of a powerful community.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 - only months away. We believe democracy works better when everyone participates. In the 40th Ward, we share a common purpose and goal: to make sure that every person’s voice is heard and every vote is counted. You have a responsibility to help to shape our democracy - help us register all of our neighbors to vote, and then make sure they vote!
